Carolyn Simmons – Publicity Chair mary [dot] simmons [at] utsouthwestern [dot] edu

Carolyn Simmons grew up in Houston, Texas and moved all of twenty minutes away to go to Carolynschool at Rice University (TEAM WIESS… we’re not a cult, promise). From a family of extremists, in high school she played waaay too much tennis. In college, she played waaay too many IMs. In first year, she looked at waaay too much pinterest. Now, a much more well-rounded semi-adult, she plans on spending waaay too much time on flyers for United to Serve public relations!

Armando Gutierrez – Publicity Assistant Chair armando [dot] gutierrez [at] utsouthwestern [dot] edu

Hello!  My name is Armando Gutierrez Jr.  I grew up in Waller, TX, a small farmers’ town, north Armando Gutierrezeast of Houston.  However, I never participated in cow tipping; I don’t believe in it.  Imagine how the cow feels; I know I always appreciate getting a full-uninterrupted night of sleep.  My dad kept all types of animals when I was growing up:  cows, horses, ducks, goats, and a golden retriever.  I graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry.  Yes, even the college I attended was in the country.  Most of my extra time is spent with my family.  I have a 4 year old son.  He is amazing.  His favorite things include anything Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spiderman, and Sonic; thank goodness for Netflix!  When I’m not wrestling with my son, I like watching movies, listen to music, playing video games, and manipulating photographs.

Christopher Dyke – Photography Chair christopher [dot] dyke [at] utsouthwestern [dot] edu

Chris, a native of Arlington, TX, studied clarinet performance at Baylor University and The Chris DykeCleveland Institute of Music.  Upon completion of his master’s degree and finally thawing out, he left quickly left Cleveland in search of the hottest place he could find a job.  Settling in Atlanta, GA, he served as principal clarinet and concert master with The Army Ground Forces Band for three years.  Deciding that he didn’t really like Mozart and Beethoven that much after all, he returned to TX to attend medical school.  In his free time he enjoys photography, running, and eating honeycrisp apples.
